Obituary
Mrs. Eva Marie Giles, age 65, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at her home. Eva was born January 19, 1953 to Darrell and Lucille Carney (Chingman) in Whitehall, Michigan. On April 28, 1973, Eva took the hand of Richard Darrel Giles, whom she was married to for 34 years. She was a member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, and took pride in her Native American heritage by studying its history and engaging in Native American craftwork. Eva had most recently worked as a certified nursing assistant at Lakeview Terrace assisted living facility, until she took leave to care for her husband, who was in failing health. While she stayed at home, she would engage in craftwork for her private business, “Mendaqua Creations”.
Eva Enjoyed cooking, photography and solving sudoku puzzles. When not doing any of these, she could be seen enjoying movies or chatting with friends and family on her tablet computer.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents, Dareell and Lucille Carney; by her husband, Richard Giles: and by her siblings, Ernest, Alfred, John, Mary Jo and Pualine.
She is survived by daughters Victoria Davis (Giles), Mary Pat, Kathleen Cordova (Giles); by her son, Lloyd Giles; by her grandchildren; Monique, Brandon, Megan, Ashleigh, Richard; by her great-grandchildren: Richard, Emma, Aria, Mario, Alexander, Arthur, Lucas, Kaden, Ezekiel and Mace; by her sisters; Patricia, Darlene and Dora; by her brothers: Darrell and James; and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services for Eva will be private and only open to family members.
