Evan Lee Cleary
January 22, 2013 – February 21, 2024
Evan Lee Cleary, 11, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2024. Born on January 22, 2013 in Daytona Beach, Florida, Evan brightened the world with his loving nature, kind spirit, and quirky sense of humor.
Evan was the beloved son of Mary (Haywood) Fry and Alex Cleary, and stepson of Jackson Fry. He was also an amazing big brother to his younger siblings, Helena, 9, and Julian, 5.
An honor roll student at Burns Science and Technology Charter School, Evan was very intelligent and also remarkably gifted in art. His imaginative illustrations and creative stories were vibrant expressions of his artistic talent and unique style. He dreamed of one day becoming an animator or, as he joked, an “underpaid worker at Publix”.
Evan found joy in the simple things – building Lego creations, spending time with his dearly loved dog Yoshi, and exploring new worlds through his favorite video games, including Five Nights at Freddy’s, Minecraft, Lethal Company, and Among Us.
Evan greatly enjoyed family time, especially game nights filled with laughter and togetherness. He had a special bond with his two teenage uncles, who he affectionately called “his guys”.
Despite his young age, Evan had a profound impact on those around him. He was compassionate beyond his years, with an incredible ability to make others feel valued and loved. His charming, boyish smile spread happiness and light to those around him.
Although gone far too soon, Evan’s beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of his parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and all who were blessed to have known him. His warm hugs, contagious laughter, and zest for life will be deeply missed but never forgotten. While Evan’s life story may have been brief, he definitely made it a good one. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to Evan’s favorite charity, Sophie’s Circle, in his honor.

Evan - your photo is precious and touches my heart. I work with your grandmother Peggy and one thing I noticed about her is her softness, smile and that she loves you. She will miss you very much. I’m glad I was able to be with her during this time.
