Obituary
Evelyn Rios, age 73, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. Evelyn was born on October 29, 1952, in Lorain, Ohio, to Cecilia Barbosa and Hipólito Ramos. She was raised in Puerto Rico, where she developed the strong family values, resilience, and warmth that defined her life.
She began her professional career in an administrative role with Mebane Packaging Group and later worked as a Sales Representative for Bayer. Evelyn eventually moved to South Bend, Indiana, where she continued her career until being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Following her diagnosis, she relocated to Florida, where she retired.
Evelyn was a devoted and loving mother who cherished her family deeply. She adored her grandchildren Michelle, Ian, Ethan, Aaden, and Amara, as well as her three great-grandchildren Daniella, Eydan, and Emma.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Wetzel, of Orlando, Florida; her children Juan, Ursula, and Jennifer Caballero; and her stepdaughter MiaAlyn Nelo. She is also survived by her brothers Julio, Hipólito, and David, her sisters Mary Lou and Lydia, and her mother Cecilia Barbosa.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers Kenny, Joe, and Mike.
A Memorial Mass will be held on January 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, located at 4301 S. Chickasaw Trail, Orlando, Florida. A reception will follow the Mass. Father José Bautista will officiate the ceremony, as family and friends gather to honor and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Evelyn’s memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation
