Obituary
E. Darrell Evans, 81, of Ocala, FL, peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on November 15, 2016, following a valiant fight against prostate cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Darrell was born to Everett and Ruth Evans in Pittsburgh, PA, graduated from Carrick High School, received his BBA Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and was forever proud of being the manager of the 1953 city championship Carrick High Football team. After marrying and starting a family Darrell fulfilled his lifelong dream and moved his family to Florida, where he was employed by Palm Beach County for 26 years before retiring. Darrell enjoyed a variety of sports and outdoor activities, especially bowling and golf. He proudly displayed his bowling high game score and his hole-in-one certificate attained at Pine Ridge Golf club in 2006. He was a lifelong Steelers and Pirates Fan. In the 70s, in Palm Beach Gardens, he coached youth teams in softball and basketball for his daughter and football and basketball for his son. When he was not coaching, he was in the stands supporting whatever team they were on. Darrell worshiped and was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian, First Presbyterian in NPB, and Ocala West UMC. He made friends with most people who met him because of his openness, kindness, wit, and concern. He endeared himself to his coworkers through his hard work, empathy and fairness.
Darrell leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 58 years Claralou (Bonnar) Evans, a daughter Rebecca A. Evans (Susan Bonk) of Hendersonville, NC, a son Darrell Evans, Jr. (Diane), and a grandson Trevor Evans of Port St Lucie, FL.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends far and near.
A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held at Ocala West UMC, Saturday Dec. 3, 2016 at 3:00pm. Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremation 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd. Ocala, FL 352-236-5884.
