I don't even know what to write. I picked my boys up from the JCC on Thursday and they said, "Mommy, we have some very sad news." I just kept repeating to them over and over what they had just told me in complete disbelief. I just saw Fernando last week and as always he had a big smile and warm gesture to offer as we passed in the hall. Fernando was always with Joey and the two of them always looked so happy together. We would see them at diners, kite shows, the movies and Fernando never failed to make you feel as if he were truly interested in what you had to say and in you as a person. Fernando loved Joey to pieces and it was clear to anyone fortunate enough to be in the presence of the two of them together. Fernando was one of the kindest, most gentle souls and without a doubt the most genuine individual I have ever had the good fortune of knowing. I am heartbroken for joey and can't stop crying as I write this.. but Joey will be abundantly blessed as he will have the purest and greatest of angels watching over him for eternity....

I will always remember Fernando's passion for life. He was full of enthusiasm, kindness, and possessed a quick wit. He was a true professional with a very strong work ethic. We lost touch over the years but I will always be grateful for his wise counsel. May the peace of knowing Christ be a comfort through this unexpected storm.

Fernando was a good friend and colleague. He was a mentor to many (including myself). I always considered Fernando as a thoughtful and generous man. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
