Florindo Joseph “Joe” Viola passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 25th, 2018. He was born December 30th, 1932, to Peter and Mary Viola of Rochester, New York after they emigrated from Italy in 1921 to start a new life in America. Joe graduated from the Aquinas Institute in Rochester and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Economics at Niagara University, graduating with honors. He then served in the Army during the Korean War. Joe moved to Western New York after his service, married Pauline and raised three boys spending most of his years in the Buffalo area. He had a very dedicated and successful career in the Information Systems and Technology Services industry working for many years with Marine Midland Bank. Joe moved to Florida in 1982 and retired from IBM in 2000. Joe was a lifelong Buffalo Bills and St. Louis Cardinals fan, the latter as a result of his time as a boy shagging balls for their farm club in Rochester. Joe was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed playing golf, pinochle and tracking the stock market. He is survived by his wife Joyce (nee Danko), sons Eric (Christie) and Mark (Karen), grandchildren Parker, Lawson and Alexa, Danko stepchildren James, Jennifer and Daniel, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Pauline (nee Galamb), son Kevin and his parents Peter and Mary. A celebration of life will be held in The Villages, Florida, and will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
