Obituary
Frances “Fran” Mae Rigney (Switzer) passed away quietly in her sleep this evening, 3 November 2022 at Waterman Hospital in Eustis, Florida. She was the daughter of Alva L. Switzer and Helen E. Hall. She was born on the 28th of July 1943 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
Fran was born and raised in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. She married her first love, Tony Ridge, Sr. on the 21st of December 1963. In 1976, the family of 5 moved to Florida where they would remain. Tony Sr. and Fran had been married 42 years when he passed away in 2006.
Then Fran met a widower, Carl Rigney who had been married to his spouse, Patricia Day for 42 years as well. Both spouses passed due to illness. Fran and Carl were lucky in love a second time and they found each other’s families to share their remaining days with. Carl and Fran were married for 15 years.
She was a loving mother and devoted wife. She was very outgoing and loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing cards with friends. Frances retired from the Lake County School system and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her spouse, Carl Rigney and her three children: Elah (Lawrence) Tinkey of Leesburg, FL, Tony (Kimberly) Ridge, Jr. of Polk City, FL, and Becky (Keith) Huntington of Groveland, FL and two step-children: Steve (Jan Talkish-Rigney) Rigney of Columbia, SC, Cheryl (Powell) Crider and granddaughter, Zoey Crider, of Memphis, TN.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Shyla Coker, Ronnie (Amanda) Tinkey, Bryan (Katie) Tinkey, Joseph (Taylor) Ridge, Michael (Margaret) Ridge, Casey Ridge, Jordan (Rob) Henry, Brittini (Scott) Higgins, Kyle (Danielle) Huntington, Zachary Huntington, Jade Huntington and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters: Judith (Eli) Lewis of Vicksburg, Michigan, and Patricia (Milan) Bittenbender of South Haven, Michigan.
She is predeceased by her first spouse, Tony L. Ridge, Sr., her parents, Alva and Helen Switzer both of Michigan, one brother, Elvin “Sonny” Switzer, late of Big Plain, OH, and one sister, Norma Suess, late of Ft. Myers, FL.
Visitation is Friday, November 11th, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Leesburg Church of the Nazarene, 2100 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Leesburg, FL. Service to follow visitation at the church at 12 noon.
