Obituary

Magyar, Frank was born on 3/25/1940 in Ofeherto, Hungary. Frank was also known as Feri, Apuka, Batya and his by-far favorite, Papa. Frank passed away on 3/6/2022 at his home in Florida following a short illness, with his wife of 55 years, Maria (Mosuly), and his daughters, Maria Richardson and Edith Magyar, by his side. He was also surrounded by his son-in-law, Spencer Richardson and his cherished granddaughters, Sara Richardson, Danielle Richardson, Katelyn Richardson, Erika Marino, and Alyssa Richardson throughout his month-long illness. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law (Grace Magyar and Maria Kiss Magyar) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Frank was predeceased by his parents Andras Magyar and Jolan Barabas, and his 6 brothers and sisters, George, Andrew, Elizabeth, Irene, John, and Lester.

Frank served in the Hungarian army as a young man. Frank emigrated from Hungary with his wife and young children in 1972 in the hopes of a better life for his children and future generations. He was excited to become a United States citizen in 1985. He was also very proud of the fact that both his daughters and now all of his granddaughters completed college. That was truly a part of his American Dream.

Frank worked for Hummel Brothers in New Haven CT for 32 years, retiring in 2005. Frank enjoyed gardening, woodworking, cooking, and barbecuing. He made many things from scratch, from homemade wine and fresh sausages (hurka and kielbasa) to step stools and he loved to share his talents with those around him. He especially loved his bacon frying get togethers which all of his grandchildren looked forward to! Frank and his wife, Maria moved to New Bern NC, in 2017 and then to Ormond Beach in 2021 in order to enjoy the year round outdoors.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 11am-1pm Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Baldwin Brothers, 1185 W. Granada Blvd. #11, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Frank's passing. As his neighbor for 20 years, I learned many things from him as his skills ranged from expert gardening, tree work, cooking and many more... Frank could do it, and did it all. A Hungarian immigrant to the town of Wallingford as many others from his native country before and after him, in my eyes he was the epitome of a hard working family man living the American dream. Godspeed Frank and my condolences to his family.
