Obituary

Frank J. Perzanowski of Whiting, IN, Chicago, IL, Syracuse, IN, and Estero, FL, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2019, at the age of 81. Born on July 17, 1938, in Whiting, IN, to Stanley and Madeline (Madge) Perzanowski.

Frank grew up with a love for Chicago and his community. Frank graduated in 1957 from George Rogers Clark High School in Whiting. In pursuit of lifelong education, he went on to study at Valparaiso and Culver Stockton Universities. He served in the United States Army, and then served his community as a police officer with the Chicago Police Department. He retired from the Chicago Police Department after 26 years of service.

After retirement, he moved to Syracuse, IN, to open and run a successful t-shirt and sports apparel business called the Wawasee TeePee with his brother Tom. He was a pillar in the community- also mplementing security at Rinker Boat Company- until moving to Florida, where he served as a security guard at the Allegro condominiums in Naples.

Frank was a lifelong member of the American Legion and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.). He also belonged to the Indiana Horse Racing Association and was a shared owner of Goose Island stables. He held partnerships of 2 race horses. Frank was an avid golfer, fisherman, and fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 36 years, Phyllis Sparks Perzanowski, his 4 sons: Frank Jr. Perzanowski (Syracuse, IN), Ron Perzanowski (Coal City, IL), Michael Perzanowski (Ft. Wayne,IN), and Don (Denise) Brown (Goshen, IN), daughter Gina Kendall (Vancouver, WA), granddaughters: Mikala (Dr. C.J.) Hansen (Omaha, NE), Kassie Perzanowski (Syracuse, IN), Shelby Perzanowski (Hammond, IN), step grandsons: Kyle Walter (LaPorte, IN) and Austen Brown (Indianapolis, IN), step granddaughters: Shelbie Miller, Macie Miller, and Gwen Brown (all of Goshen, IN), 3 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers: Tom (Jan) Perzanowski (Merritt Island, FL), and Stan Perzanowski (York, PA). Frank is preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Madeline “Madge” Perzanowski (Whiting, IN) and sister Janet Belmont (Portage, IN). Frank would like to commemorate his closest friends Joe Dybel, Louie Dybel, George Kauchak, Ben Radamacher, and Rudy Sparks. “I love you guys, and I’ll see you on the other side.”

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 2:00PM at the Oakwood Inn Resort Conference Room – 702 East Lake View Road, Syracuse. IN 46567

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Frank Perzanowski Scholarship Fund. ( For High School Seniors interested in pursuing a degree in Law Enforcement.)
