Obituary
Frederick C. Schneider Jr., commonly known as Fred, aged 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 30, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida. Born on September 7, 1946, in Rocky River, Ohio, Fred lived a life characterized by a steadfast commitment to his family, his country, and his community.
Fred served with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a period which shaped much of his life’s work and character. His continued allegiance to fellow veterans was evident through his active participation with the DAV and the VFW, organizations through which he sought to extend support and camaraderie to those who served.
Upon returning to civilian life, Fred channeled his keen practical judgement into a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant in the Sarasota area. His scholastic achievements were rooted in his education at Rocky River High School and furthered by his dedication at Bowling Green State University.
A pillar of the New Life Worship Center, Fred’s faith and love of God was a guiding force in his life. He was among the founding families of the church and served with a fervent spirit.
Fred’s personal interests were as varied as they were passionate, including skeet shooting, car racing, and his continued service in the Color Guard to honor other veterans. These activities were more than hobbies; they were integral parts of a life lived with vigor and purpose.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty years, Kathleen Schneider; his daughters, Suzanne Wildasin, Sabrina Molano, and Andrea Humes; his sons-in-law, Kirk Wildasin and Marcus Molano; his 5 treasured grandchildren; his sister, Donna Ford, and brother-in-law, Jaf Ford; and his faithful service dog, Missy.
On September 19, 2024, services for Fred’s final resting place will be held at the National Cemetery in Sarasota at 1pm, where he will be laid to rest with the solemn dignity befitting his service to his nation. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the DAV in Sarasota (7177 Bee Ridge Rd, Sarasota, FL 34241) to be held in his honor. Both events are open to all those who knew him or the family.
In his passing, Fred’s legacy of quiet resolve, unwavering loyalty, and heartfelt devotion will be eternally cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
