Obituary

Fred Cross (82) of Rolling Greens Villages passed into his Saviour’s arms Saturday evening, May 23, 2020, at Estelle’s House after not recovering from heart surgery a month earlier. He was predeceased by his parents, Allie and Mildred Cross and his sister, Charlotte Miller. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia (Pat); brothers, Keith and Ted (Darlene); children, Dan (Rachell), Merialee (Ron), and Jessica (Curtis); and 9 grandchildren.

Fred served in the Army in Germany in the late ’50s and went to Baptist Bible Seminary in up state NY. He pastored a church in Illinois for a few years and then got into trucking.

He taught in truck driving school and drove many miles around the US for 40 years, even trying his own business for 3 years. After retiring, he and Pat moved to Ocala and he worked as a tour guide in the Silver Springs Park. His favorite job was a Boat Captain on the Silver Springs River Tour Boat. One of his favorite lines was, “This is a boat, not a ship. If the boat goes down, Follow Me and try to keep up!”

Fred liked to write stories and used part of his name as the author, Rick Wayne. Fred was his own handyman and he and Pat were Believers and trusting Jesus as their Saviour. He helped do maintenance at Trinity Baptist Church with the crew there for many years. Fred’s message today is that he would like you to trust Jesus and follow Him and Fred to Heaven.

Arrangements for Fred were entrusted with Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place Chapel, 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Suite 200, Ocala, FL 34470. www.BaldwinCremation.com
