Obituary

Frederick Durett Molpus of Orlando, Florida passed away December 18, 2024, at 7:57 AM at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida from pneumonia at the age of 92.

Fred was born on April 17, 1932, at 6:05 a.m. at Halifax District Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was the fifth and final child of Katherine Elizabeth (nee Bond) and John Kindred Molpus, Sr.

Fred graduated from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1950 and from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1954. He was in ROTC in college and joined the US Army reserve in 1954. He was active duty in the US Army as a pharmacist in West Germany from 1955 to 1957. He was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserve Medical Service Corps in 1962 with the rank of First Lieutenant. He worked as a retail pharmacist from 1958 until he retired in 1989.

Fred married Helen Priscilla Morris on July 27, 1963, they had two sons, Robert Bond and Mason Kirk, and they settled in Orlando, Florida. After retirement, they lived outside Burnsville, North Carolina for 20 years before returning to Orlando in 2011.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in 2017, and his five older siblings, Edward Lynell Molpus, Kennie May Molpus, Mary Ivie Farmer, and John Kindred Molpus, II.

Frederick is survived by his sons, his daughter-in-law An’gel Marie, his two grandsons Ryan Joseph and Jacob Kirk, and his two great grandchildren, Avalynn Marie and Owen Kirk.
