Frederick Eugene “Skip” Thompson,86, Port Orange FL died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.
He was born in Jamestown, Ohio, December 11, 1926. He moved to Xenia, Ohio where he worked at the Xenia Daily Gazette for 25 years. In 1974 the family moved to Ormond Beach FL. He retired from the Casa Del Mar in Ormond Beach FL after 24 years of service. Skip was an avid NASCAR fan and Ohio State Buckeye football fan. A devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Jean Thompson and granddaughter Jennifer Nelson-Hiller. Skip was especially devoted to his family and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son Michael Thompson, daughter Shari Nelson of Port Orange FL, grandson Jamie Nelson of Daytona Beach FL, grand son-in-law Joe Hiller, great granddaughter Rachel Hiller of Port Orange FL and sister Pat (Harold) Ray of Bangor, Maine.
Life Celebration will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 PM.
