Frederick Wayne Igou was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania.  His father died when Fred was two years old. His mother sent him to Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA where he was raised.  His first marriage to Ruth produced three children. He attended college at Penn State and Temple University while he was working as a printer and raising his family. They moved to Phoenixville, PA and taught Graphic Arts at Southern Chester Vocational School. His second marriage was to Susan (no children together). They honeymooned for 17 months sailing in Florida and the Bahamas and back to Pennsylvania. They then moved the boat to Key Biscayne where they couldn’t get a slip for six month so they went on to the Bahamas. They returned to Key Biscayne and Fred got his Captain’s License while Susan got her Ham Radio License in order to do more sailing. They agreed to work for ten years before going long distance sailing. He worked at Miami-Dade Parks and Rec. She worked in a Miami hospital as a Psychiatric nurse. They traveled every vacation to the Caribbean, Bermuda, US west coast, Keys, Alaska, Europe, China and Hong Kong by train. Fred’s daughter Sherry came to live with them until she graduated from high school. When he finished working they sailed to every island in the Caribbean. They later bought a three acre farm in Edgewater where they raised goats. Fred enjoyed puttering around in his large workshop. He built a house, walkway, fountain and was generally very crafty. They later moved to New Smyrna Beach and lived in Sea Woods. He enjoyed playing shuffle board, dancing, scuba diving, bowling and an active life. He is survived by his wife Susan, children David (Priscilla) Igou, Kathy (Mike) Ersland, Sherry Igou-Campbell, Lisa Groh, Linda, grandchildren Danny and Frank.   Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia Southeast Care Center 4140 South Ridgewood Avenue Edgewater FL 32141. Lifef Celebration will be 2:00 PM May 25 at Sea Woods Clubhouse.

To the family: May the comfort from family and friends strengthen you during this difficult time, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
