Obituary
Fritzie Seger, age 86, passed away on January 25, 2025, after a long illness. Fritzie was born on September 1, 1938, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Karl and Anna (Kampp) Seitz. She married George Seger in Brighton, MI on March 9, 1957. He survives her. She was a graduate of Brighton High School, Class of 1956, and attended Western Michigan University. She was the organist/choir director for many years, serving St. George Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, and the First Methodist Church, all of Brighton, MI. She retired in 1992 after serving 15 years as secretary to the Athletic Director at Brighton High School.
She was a resident of Naples, FL since 1992, moving to Ft. Myers in 2015. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, George; four sons, Mark of Ferndale, MI; Stephen (Naomi) of Port St. Lucie, FL; Scott (Claudia) of Robbinsville, NC and Kristopher (Ginger) of Charlotte, NC; 10 nephews and nieces, 25 grand nephews and nieces; three grandsons, Michael, Karl, and Stephen; two granddaughters, Taylor and Samantha. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Elfrida Schulert of Rochester Hills, MI and Marianna Bair of Brighton, MI.
Fritzie was founder and first president of Brighton Co-op Children’s Nursery, served as Secretary of Michigan Council of Cooperative Nurseries, was Brighton’s “Women of the Year” in 1971, first President of Spencer Elementary School PTA, a Charter Board Member of the Livingston Country Chorale, a member of the Livingston Players, where she accompanied the group for it’s first seven musical productions. She was a regular blood donor for many years, she had donated 18 gallons before her death. At her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
