Obituary
Gary Hoover, 81, died at home in Ocala, surrounded by his loved ones, on August 9, 2021, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Gary is survived by his two daughters, Stacey Skorka and Carrie Hoover, both residing in Ocala, his four grandchildren, Joey Skorka, Jonathan Skorka, Phallon Wallace and Drake Hoover, his son-in-law, Joseph Skorka, and grand daughters of the heart, Samantha Molina and Ariel Nava.
Gary was born in Marysville, California to Frank and Thelma Hoover where he graduated from Marysville, California. His favorite subject was music and he excelled at the clarinet.
Gary served our country in the Air Force and was stationed in Japan where he worked on early computers as a data processor. He also pitched for his Air Force fast pitch softball team. He later ended up at Nellis Air Force Base, outside of Las Vegas, where he married and raised his family.
The Hoov, as he was lovingly called by his friends and colleagues, worked in gaming until he retired, and was a wiz dealer until he earned many promotions, though he always loved dealing cards, and roulette was his favorite game to operate.
Gary had a zest for knowledge, interests in everything outer space related and had a passion for fishing and rock hounding. He also loved dinosaurs and knew every line in the Jurassic World franchise. He touched the hearts of so many people with his caring personality and quick wit. He will be truly missed.
