Obituary
Gemma Mary Roome, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Advent Health New Smyrna Beach Hospital.
She was born on May 20, 1947, in Motherwell, Scotland, to Thomas and Catherine Sherry. She came to America where she married Fred Roome and had three children, Peter, Scott, and Victoria for whom she lived her life for.
She worked in the financial capacity for Beneficial. She graduated from SUNY in Purchase, New York and then went on to teach three- and four-year-old preschool.
She retired to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 2000. She was skilled in arts and crafts with no boundaries. She enjoyed knitting, painting, and would make every holiday come to life with her spirit and decorations.
Gemma brought her love and essence to every meal. She was known for her lasagna, ziti, and chocolate coconut clusters. There was no one like her in the kitchen.
Gemma had a knack for solving crosswords, Sudoku, and loved watching her murder mystery shows, especially her “Murder She Wrote.” Gemma’s heart was as warm and big as her beauty, she had a certain special way where people felt they could open up to her and talk. She deserved the Olympic Gold Medal, Nobel Peace Prize, Pulitzer Prize, and the Congressional Medal of Honor.
As much as she is missed there is comfort knowing Gemma is in heaven with her mom and dad.
Heaven is a little brighter, we love and miss you.
Fred, Peter, Scott, Viki, Ty, and Jo-Anne.
