Obituary

Generosa “Gena” Acker passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at her home in The Villages, FL. She was 86. She departed this life in the loving care of her two daughters, Kate and Renee.

Gena was born June 20, 1935 in Chillon, Spain to Jacinto and Delores Gonzalez Campos. Gena was a longtime resident of Dover, DE, having settled there with her husband, James “Jim” Earl Acker. Jim was a career Air Force man. He and Gena met while he was deployed in Spain. After marrying they came to the United States and traveled across the country, and lived in Okinawa, and Greece. They finally settled in Dover, DE where they attended Holy Cross Church. Gena worked for many years at the Base Exchange at Dover Air Force Base until her retirement in 1995. After the death of her husband, Jim, in 2007, she moved to The Villages, FL.

Gena enjoyed playing bridge, photographic editing for her husband’s photography business, art critique for her daughter Renee, camping, stargazing with the local Delmarva Stargazers Club, and spending time with family and friends at home. Gena is survived by her daughters, Kate Acker-Donnelly of Raleigh, NC and Renee Crouser of Locust Grove, GA; her five grandchildren, Gena Layton, Andrea Donnelly, Patrick Donnelly, Caitlyn Crouser and Terry James Crouser; eight great-grandchildren; and her faithful miniature poodle, Clinton. A Memorial Service for Gena will be held at St Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in The Villages on Wednesday, November 3, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860, ATTN: Philanthropy Department. They were wonderful support and comfort. Online condolences may be shared at www.baldwincremation.com
