Obituary
George H. Murphy, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Cypress Care Center in Wildwood, FL after many years of living with Parkinson’s disease. He was born May 28, 1944 to Robert and Lillian Murphy. He grew up in Livonia, New York working on the family farm. He received an associate’s degree from Alfred State College, and went on to study at Ohio State University.
He married Kay Stevens on April 20th 1968 in Owego NY. He and his wife raised a family in Rush, NY and later moved to Lake Panasoffkee, FL. He served in the National Guard, as a mechanic for many years. He worked for over twenty years at Sears in many different roles, rising from sales to management. He and his wife jointly ran Murphy’s Antiques for nearly 40 years, where they refurbished antique furniture, and bought and sold collectibles.
George is survived by his wife Kay, children Peter and Yvonne, brother Harrison, grandchildren Erin, Brianna, Ian, and Rory. As per his wishes, George will be cremated after a small family service.
