George "Sonny" Altman, 70, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Brooklyn and Kingston, New York, passed away on Sunday September 28, 2014.
Sonny was a certified meat cutter and the owner of many businesses in New York and was also the longtime owner of "The Butcher Block" in Ocala.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Carr Altman of Ocala and his four sons, George Altman, Jr. (Kathy), Michael Altman, John Altman (Darlene), and Robert Altman (Suzette), all of Ocala. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Heather Altman, Michael Altman Jr., John Altman Jr., Michael Altman, Allie Altman, Robert Altman, Jr. and Nicole Altman. He is also the proud great grandparent of 4 children.
He leaves behind his brothers, Eddie Altman (Carmella), Mickey Altman (Maureen), Bobby Altman (Fran) and Anthony Tacti (Cindy) and his sisters Rosalie Auchmoedy (Louie) and Ida Tyler.
Sonny was preceded in death by his sisters, Caroline and Frances and his beloved namesake, his grandson, Sonny Devon Altman.
Services will be held at Meadowbrook Church 4741 SW 20th Street Ocala, Florida on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
