Obituary

George William Pearce of Fruitland Park, Florida, passed away on Nov. 21, 2017. George was 90 years old. George was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ilo Pearce, of Iowa City, Iowa, George`s birthplace. George was pleasant to have around, quiet, gentle, loving, generous, caring and he had a great heart and was always willing to help someone without reservations, a rock of help and support to everyone specially his wife Jinny. George loved to recount his life stories and had a very particular way to tell them to keep everyone interested in listening. His stories were constantly full of adventure and he always made them more exiting adding his own special humor. George will be forever missed by all his friends and family and every person whom he touched. George was a true gentleman.

George graduated from Leesburg High School, joined the United States Navy, and subsequently moved on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. George held a long and productive career in a variety of endeavors. He was a long resident of Marathon, Florida Keys, where he dedicated his time as a Developer and General Contractor supervising the development of various buildings, motels, offices and houses.

He then moved to Leesburg, FL. Where he started a successful flooring business and worked for Century 21 Real Estate. Tall, handsome and talented, George ran the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Holmes Beach, Florida, before moving to Colorado, where he spent the next 20 years developing Elk Meadows, a 1,200 acre project, where he did everything from running heavy equipment, designing and implementing infrastructure, to selling plots of land. He later returned to Leesburg, FL, where he retired. George is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Virginia Rode-Pearce, his son William Pearce Jr. and grandsons Mark Pearce, and Eric Pearce. Memorial services will be held at Warren Willis Camp, 4990 Picciola Dr., Fruitland Park. FL. On Dec. 2, 2017 at 11:00AM.
