Obituary
George Patrick Wilson was born on March 13, 1947 in Washington, DC to Fred and Virginia Wilson. He passed away at the age of 77 on February 18, 2025 after an extended illness.
George grew up with six brothers and one sister and was preceded in death by Fred Wilson Jr, Billy Wilson, Terrell Wilson, and Anita Wilson Whitney. Surviving siblings include Ken Wilson, Donald Wilson, and Timothy Wilson. He also leaves behind a son, a daughter, three grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Berkley Springs High School in 1966, George enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1966 to 1969 with the 101st Airborne division. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, George went home where he married in November 1969 and divorced in 1978. George had two children Shannon Wilson Cook and Japheth Wilson. He often called them by their nicknames, “Shenanigans” and “Japes”. He was most proud of his three grandchildren Shane Cook, Hallie Cook, and Maggie Cook and was sure to show off their pictures and tell of their achievements.
George was a “jack of all trades” which was apparent with his work in security alarms, telephone installation, masonry, and construction. He was an avid guitar player and had an enthusiasm for motorcycles.
He spent his last years living in Homosassa, Florida where he met his partner, Gwen, and lived happily until her passing in 2024. George has chosen cremation and will be interred at the Nashville National Cemetery in Tennessee with a military honors memorial service at a later date.
