Gerald August Folker Sr of Edgewater passed away Friday, August 3, 2012. He was born on April 12, 1930 to August and Pauline Folker in Chicago, IL. He is the youngest of three brothers. Gerald served his country proudly in the Army in Korea. He married and they had four children Judith, Ricky, Paul and Beverly. Gerald and Ellen were married in August 12, 1961, they have a daughter Connie (Bruce Reedus) Folker and a son Gerald August Folker, Jr.
He worked as a truck driver for Pully Frieght Lines and at Stradford Mall in maintenance. He was the Owner / Operator of Preferred Maintenance Wooddale, IL. Gerald was also a volunteer Fire Fighter in Wooddale. He lived in Chicago and in 1992 he retired and moved his family to Edgewater.
Gerald enjoyed playing golf, working as a starter at Turnbull golf course, playing Ucher, card games, created a board game Joker, loved NASCAR and was a huge fan of Mark Martin. He also enjoyed boating, enjoyed fishing, playing with train sets with his great grand kids and a big fan of Chicago White Socks.
He is survived by his wife Ellen and children Judith, Ricky, Paul, Beverly, Connie and Gerald Jr; grandchildren Tine Reedus (Engaged to Filippo Vaglica), Tricia (Anthony) Carulli, Alexandra Folker (engaged to Samuel Hall) great grandchildren Connor Carulli, Chloe Carulli and Samual Hall.
A Life Celebration will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 12:00 at First Baptist Church in New Smyrna Beach.
