Obituary
RICHARDSON, GERALD DAY SR. Gerald Day Richardson, Sr., 75, a lifelong resident of Apopka, passed December 7 after a brief illness. He was born in Orlando to Hoke Smith and Edith Clark Richardson. He graduated from Apopka High School and joined the United States Air Force serving in Okinawa. Upon discharge from the Air Force he attended mortuary school at Miami Dade. After completing his education he worked for Hoequist Bray Fairchild Funeral Home which later became Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home. He also worked for Loomis Funeral Home, Collison Funeral Home and Baldwin-Brothers Funeral Home. He loved his work and served the Central Florida community as a Funeral Director for nearly 50 years.
He was a proud member of the Apopka Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Apopka Elks Lodge #2422, Life member of VFW of Post10147, Life member of Apopka Historical Society and Museum of Apopka. He was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching college and professional football.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Rankin Richardson, children Jerry (Catalina) of Apopka, DeAnna McWilliams of Apopka and Jeff (Tina) of Longwood, and their mother, Pamela Powell Richardson, step-daughter Shelle Bauer of Ashland, Ohio, grandchildren, Jeremy Richardson, Joshua Richardson, Max Richardson, Christian Richardson, Brittany (Chris) Mazzaro and Heather McWilliams, step-grandchildren, Todd Wertman, Tommy (Stacy) Bauer, Danny (Erica) Bauer, Kaley (Jason) Schumaker and Joey Bauer, great-grandson Nolan Mazzaro, step-great-grandchildren, Nash, Mason, Avery, Mady, Reece, Isla, Dane, Sawyer and Patrick, brother, Ronald, Sister-in-law, Joyce Richardson, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Clark and Elbert, granddaughter Katelyn, and step-daughter Stacey Vogt.
Per Gerald’s request, there will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held for family.
