Obituary
Gerald (Jerry) Thomas Shaw passed into his heavenly father’s arms on January 16, 2018, leaving behind his wife of 57 years, Sandy Plasick Shaw. Jerry was born in Natrona, PA on November 19, 1940 to the late John and Phyllis Woodman Shaw. He grew up in Frazier Township and graduated from East Deer High school in 1958. Jerry worked very hard all his life to provide for his family. He was a mechanic in the coal mines for 20 years while being a self -employed/self- taught carpenter, building many homes in the Sarver/Saxonburg area. He retired in 2002 to his dream state of Florida with no more cold and snow. The last ten years his home was in the Villages, FL – the playground for retirees. He enjoyed the sunshine, playing pickle ball, golfing and singing Karaoke. One of the greatest joys in his life was watching his children and grandchildren in their activities and was very proud of their accomplishments in life. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children, Lori Shaw Perschke and Jodi Wray ( fiancé Shawn Peters) of Saxonburg, PA and Thomas and Melissa (Lang) Shaw of Florida; six grandchildren-Natalie and Annie Perschke and Alec Wray of Saxonburg; Mitchell Shaw ( fiancé Chelsea Elsasser) of Sarver; Cole Shaw ( fiancé Brittany Freed) and Delaney Shaw of Florida; one great grandchild, Piper Perschke-Bruce of Saxonburg. Jerry was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack and Jim Shaw and infant sister, Phyllis Ann.
A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on February 3 at 11:30 AM in the Hibiscus Recreation Center in The Villages, FL. In lieu of contributions, the family asks you to honor Jerry by paying forward an act of kindness as that was his way of life.
