Obituary
Geraldine Cassandra Greene Redding Harvey was born in Kissimmee, Florida on November 7, 1927 to Samuel and Elizabeth Redding. She attended public schools there in Kissimmee, Florida later graduating from Campbell High School here in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1947. Geraldine moved to New York City upon graduation and begin studying voice for the Opera at the Conservatory of Music in New York City. She lived there for several years. There she ventured in various positions of employment and later returning to Daytona Beach Florida to care for her ailing mother. Geraldine received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Library Science and a Master’s degree in the same. She did various teaching jobs in the Volusia County School System, finally landing a job at the then Bethune-Cookman College as a Librarian retiring in 1990. Her education was done at the former Florida Technical University now called the University of Central Florida. She retired from the college in 1990. Geraldine was a faithful member of the Mount Calvary Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served as Sabbath School Teacher. She loved traveling to The Seventh-Day Adventist Retreat every year in Hawthorne, Florida. In 2005 Geraldine move to Tennessee, a sign from God that there was where she needed to be. She later returned to Daytona Beach Florida in 2012. Geraldine leaves behind her son, Darien LaVon and a daughter, Darrietta Michelle; two other sons, Daryle Kevin and Daniel Phillip are deceased, her grandchildren, David, Dana, Elizabeth, and Ebony; her great-grandchildren, Zachariah and Zachary; grand nieces and nephews, Patricia, Jakeisha, Jasmine, Jasper, Jontel, Robert, Larry, William, and Phillip; the Love, Shellman, and Waters families. Memorial Services will be held at the Mount Calvary Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1225 8th Street, Holly Hill, Florida on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
