Obituary

Gerry Christopher Boyd, 55, of Lake Wales, Florida, passed away on May 13th, 2021 in Orlando, Florida after a battle with COVID-19.

Gerry Boyd was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Sharon Lee Morehead on September 5th,1965. He grew up in Bradenton, Florida and graduated from Manatee High School. After high school, Boyd served as a First Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1984 to 2004 and was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal. He took great pride in being a retired U.S. Navy Veteran. He married Lori Maki Boyd on January 14, 1999 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Boyd will always be remembered for his huge smile, contagious laugh, and dedication to everyone he loved. He was an attentive, giving, and caring husband. One of his greatest accomplishments was being a father who was supportive, understanding, and loving. He always loved to spend quality time with his family and could never say no to anything that would make them happy. His greatest passions in life were his family, his faith in God, and the Miami Dolphins. Boyd was raised in a family of Browns fans, but decided to be a Miami Dolphins supporter after they won the 1973 Superbowl and he remained a Dolphins super fan his whole life. He always considered Florida his home and was so happy when he was able to move back with his wife after spending many years in Harrisonburg, Virginia raising their children.

He is preceded by his sister, Tricia Morehead; his mother, Sharon Lee Morehead; and his grandparents, Mel and Toy Sutton.

Gerry Boyd is survived by his wife, Lori Boyd; his children, Marissa Stoker, Jason Stoker, and Donna Boyd; his brother, David Morehead; and his step parents, Jack and Linda Morehead.

There will be a graveside service at Sarasota National Cemetery with full military honors on June 3rd, 2021.
