Obituary
On February 22, 2023, Glenda M. McKay passed away at the age of 86 following an extended stay in the hospital. Glenda was the biological mother of two children.
Glenda loved God, family, and country and knew no stranger. She attended every family gathering she could and opened her home to the neighborhood children to give them a safe place to grow up and always know that their voices were respected. She devoted thirty years to her career as an emergency room secretary on the midnight shift at what is now called Florida Hospital East. Every time she would mention her work there she would smile and say that it was never boring. Glenda was spontaneous and appreciated her experiences in life both great and small. Her generosity of helping to care for two of her grandchildren as they grew up, her mother-in-law, and three of her sisters in their elderly years depicted a lot of her character. She provided financial help for certain charitable institutions and delivered any spiritual message that the Lord directed her to give out to family and strangers alike when He said to do so. She was a great companion and life partner to her daughter. She loved her son deeply and enjoyed seeing his accomplishments in life. She was creative, funny, and always seemed to adapt to what was happening which she lovingly termed her ‘little adventures’.
Glenda is survived by her daughter Debra Archer and her son Michael McKay. She was blessed with six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Glenda was predeceased by her husband Ralph McKay and nine siblings.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday March 18th, 2023 from 10:30am-12:30pm. Services will be held at Baldwin Brothers Orlando Chapel 1654 N Semoran Blvd. Orlando, FL 32807. The family asks that consideration be made that in lieu of floral arrangements a donation to one of Glenda’s favorite charities might be preferable. Those charities are as follows:
- International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
- Christian Appalachian Project.
- Operation Smile.
- Mercy Ships.
- St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

The Dallas sisters at a Hobo party put on by Geneva Almquist around 1975ish.
They love to party. Hobo, Custom Hats, Queen for the day birthday parties, etc, They would sing, dance, poetry, skits, write music and prank each other. The neighbors would always want to join because they heard all the laughter and music. No booze necessary, the old stories would have you falling off your chairs laughing.

Glenda McKay at Daytona Beach
I remember when she and the family lived in Titusville, FL. we would sing jungle songs all the way over as we went through a prairie full of palm trees which made it look like Africa. Some many trips, so much fun with beach trips, adventures, coquina rock quarries, shrimping, fishing, games, skits, singing, gen stone hunting, mountain trips, all full of laughter and fun. She will be missed but she is in a better place with her family all beside her. Will miss that entire generation of Dallas's. Thank you Aunt Glenda (Lenny) for the memories.
