Gloria Y. Crisostomo, 81, born in Macabebe, Philippines entered into eternal peace Wednesday, June 18, 2014. She celebrated her life in Batlimore, Maryland for 35 years and eventually resided in Leesburg, Florida for eight years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Felipe D. Crisostomo; her brother, Eduardo Yabut (Sonya); her children, Veneracion Nehus (Ronald), Felixberto Crisostomo (Barbara), Bernardita Garrish (Daniel), Flordeliza Kohler (Charles), and Marie Grace Giermek (Stephen); her grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Taylor, Justin, Cris, Rachyl, Kristina, and Maya; and her great-grandchild, Lillian. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gloria is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sozonte Yabut and the sister of the deceased Mario Yabut, Renaldo Yabut, Laticia Bacani, and Angelina Halcon.
Gloria graduated from St. Thomas University Manila, Philippines in 1954, with a major in education. While in the Philippines, she became a teacher and eventually owned a textile business. She moved with her family to the U.S. in 1971. She was a dedicated worker for Johns Hopkins University as a research technician for 35 years and retired at the age of 72. Gloria accomplished everything she set out to do. Her determination and fortitude gave encouragement to her husband and her children to lead better lives in the United States.
The memorial mass will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike Manchester, Maryland 21102, on July 19, 2014 at 1 PM.
