Gloria Creamier Wood, 74, of New Smyrna Beach, died Wednesday 4/9/2014.
She was born October 1, 1939, in Fort Worth Texas to the late Clarence and Edith Creamier. She was the 5th of their 6 children. She married the late Jackie D. Wood in 1956, and they lived together in Weatherford Texas, before retiring and relocating to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1995, and then to New Smyrna Beach.
Gloria was City Secretary of Weatherford Texas from 1970 until she retired in 1995 and was passionate about growing the city of Weatherford while maintaining the small town friendly feel.
Gloria, in retirement was never too far from the golf course and was an active member at Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach, Fl. She loved to travel, play golf, and enjoyed the company of her many friends and family.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jackie D. Wood, who passed away September 15, 2000.
Gloria is survived by her two sons: Dell Wood and wife Andrea, of Amarillo Texas; and Anthony Wood and wife Kristine of Austin Texas. She also is survived by her very dear companion of 9 years, Al Kickel, of New Smyrna Beach. She is also survived by her Brother-in-Law Gary Wood and wife Kathleen of Fort Worth, and two sisters: Shirley Wright and husband Frank of Fort Worth; and Billie Wilhelm and husband Tom of Bowie. She is also survived by her pride and joy, her two grandchildren, Nathaniel John Wood and Travis Jack Wood, both attending college at University of Texas in Austin and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She loved playing golf with her grandsons.
