Obituary
Gloria Pearl Major (73) of Palm Coast, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Thursday November 19, 2020 peacefully in her home. Gloria was born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 4, 1947 to Myles Wilbert and Margaret Moore. Gloria moved to New York City in 1965 after graduating High School. She did some college work at the City University in New York. Gloria married her husband, James Major on March 2, 1987 at Allen AME Church in Jamaica, New York. Gloria was a Union Representative for Teamsters Local 237, in New York City. She was the Group Leader at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, NY for the New York City Board of Education. In January 1995, Gloria retired and moved to Palm Coast, Florida. Gloria was a member of First AME Church in Palm Coast, Florida.
Gloria is survived by her husband James Edward Major, daughter Jazmine Rose Arnold, godson Lawrence Dey, daughter-in-law Nicosha Major, and grandson Nemuel Major and grandson William John Saxton IV. She is also survived by her sister-in- law Janie Fray of Hempstead, NY, Aunt Julie Holman of Pineland, SC, and Aunt Helen Mungin of Homosassa, FL, very close friend Gloria Singleton of Palm Coast, FL, and various other family members and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, daughter Tammy Patricia Jones, son Jason Myles Major, and stepson James Charles Major.
A Visitation and Gathering will be held 2pm-4pm Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place, 1185 W. Granada Blvd. #11, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. The Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 12pm, Monday, November 30, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery, 541-599 N Rodriquez St, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
