Obituary
Gloria Ann See, age 91, resident of The Villages, Florida, passed away at 3:24 pm on Friday, October 21, 2022, at UF Health The Villages Hospital in The Villages, Florida with her family by her side.
She was born on June 8, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, New York to Louis and Lucille D’Andrea. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother. Gloria married the love of her life, Harry See, retired Technician for both the US Air Force and IBM Corporation, on May 4, 1957. They were blessed with two sons and a daughter.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Harry; oldest son James See (sp. Martha); second son Robert See (sp. Christine); and daughter Debbie Draper (sp. Robert “Bob” Draper); Alphabetically listed: six grandchildren (Alexis, Charlie, Haleigh, Heidi, Madelyn, and Mitchell) and nine greatgrandchildren (Allie Grace, Blake, Braden, Braxton, Devin, Dillon, Kylie, Mason, and Tatum); beloved former Daughter-in-Law Dawn and Son-in-Law Jacob.
She was an impeccable homemaker, excellent cook and very creative in making her home warm, welcoming and comfortable. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed photography in which she stored an abundant number of pictures. She enjoyed browsing through and sharing with us who the subjects were, the occasions, or where they were taken. Some of the pictures were used to personalize cards and to create mementos. For quite moments, she worked on the daily newspaper crossword puzzles, played solitaire on the computer, framed pictures and artworks for her walls, and listened to music from her collection.
Gloria chose to expand her horizon by entering the workforce. Her skills and talents solidified when she was hired by IBM Corporation. This rewarding career ended when she retired from IBM as an Administration Analyzer, Food Services Support, after serving 25 of years. She earned a prestigious Entry Systems Division President’s Award for her longstanding commitment to excellence, teamwork and customer service. Perhaps the greatest value of the award was a monetary award in which she and Harry used for a well-deserved and enjoyable vacation to Hawaii. This Aloha adventure to the beautiful island state provided a gift that kept on giving. The friendships they established while vacationing is still on-going via mail, phone calls with Emily, and occasional visits from Emily’s son.
She was a devout Catholic Christian who accepted JESUS as her Lord and Savior. Gloria and Harry attended St. Timothy Catholic Church on Saturdays and always arrived early to ensure they sat in their favorite pew by the entrance doors. They were devoted 20+ year patrons of their favorite restaurants (Chick-fil-A, Culver’s and Bob Evans) where they were loved and catered to by the employees. For leisure time with their family, friends and neighbors, they participated in community “social” gatherings, blood drives, and various volunteer efforts; played golf, shared favorite music from Gloria’s collection, bowled in a league, enjoyed dinning and listening to live bands with friends at the Villages Squares and frequented the neighborhood pool and beaches.
Gloria was dedicated to her children and especially dedicated in loving, caring and spoiling her grand and great-grand children. From the Family: The family would like to express enormous gratitude and thanks to the numerous individuals who befriended and watched over mom and dad as they gradually transitioned into a much slower pace of activities and travels during the past few years.
From James and Martha: It is with heartfelt, special and sincere thanks to all of you for welcoming us to the community, personally reaching out in-person or by phone; providing encouragement; supporting us in rendering the “hands on” assistance that mom and dad so badly needed and for taking the time to pray with us and for us while we struggled over a year’s journey of successes and set-backs. We don’t have to list names but you know who you are and what you do! We pray in JESUS name that GOD blesses you forever!!!
Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 8:30 am at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, FL 32159. Phone: (352) 753-0989; Live streaming on the church website on the Welcome page, YouTube or Facebook.
Remember me (on behalf of Gloria See)
Remember me with smiles not tears, for all the joy through all the years. Recall the closeness that was ours. For me, sharing our love, respect, and friendship was as “sweet and inviting” as the fragrant of my favorite rose flowers.
Don’t dwell on thoughts or memories that cause you pain. As a child of GOD called to my eternal home, I am at peace. It was my time and I had to leave.
Please always remember, you’re not alone for GOD is with you throughout the days, months and years. Let HIM guide you as he has guided me for all of my 91 glorious years.
SMILE with me right now for I have earned my wings and now I am one of GOD’s Angels!!!
Welcome home Angel Gloria!!!
