Obituary
Gordon E. Camp, March 5, 1934 – September 13, 2021
Gordon Camp was a member of the New Smyrna Beach Community for over 20 years. He was a lifelong Florida resident and passed away peacefully on September 13th from complications of cancer surgery.
Gordon was proud of his Florida and New England heritage. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Bordner, daughter and two sons, Jody Arckey (Ray), Scott Camp (Joanna), and Keith Camp; his grandchildren, Brent Arckey, Eric Arckey, Jamie Henson, Tyler Camp, Jason Camp, Katherine Camp; and his great grandchildren. He was also loved and supported by Julie Colmer.
Gordon was born in Saint Petersburg, Florida, long before the Skyway Bridge! His family built their first house themselves and grew a fantastic life thereafter. He served in the Coast Guard and he had a 36 year career with Florida Power. In his almost 30 years of retirement he loved to stay in shape by biking, walking, and lifting daily. Gordon has lived many lives in his 87 years. He loved to ride motorcycles, being a grandpa/great grandpa, a mentor to troubled youth, and the much-acclaimed unofficial mayor of New Smyrna Beach!
His community will remember him fondly as the friendly and inviting patron at various local establishments on Flagler Avenue. His family will have a Celebration of Life at his home September 18th from 3 P.M. until sunset. Please join us to celebrate this amazing man.
