NIEDHAMMER
On January 2, 2019, Grace Russell Niedhammer of Rotterdam, NY and Port Orange, FL passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Ormond Beach, FL surrounded by many loving friends and family members.
She was born on April 17, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Catherine and John Rickelton. Grace grew up in Brooklyn where she met and married George Niedhammer, her lifelong best friend and husband. They moved to and lived in Rotterdam, NY where they raised their four children, Karen LaPlante (Jack Mortensen), Janet Pasqualino (Russ), Kerry Culora (Wesley) and Lt. Commander (ret.) George Niedhammer (Cathleen). She was a loving and devoted “Naunie” to her eight grandchildren, Erik Richtmeyer (Michele), Sheri Scarsella (Terry), Ryan Nielsen (Tara), Gordon LaPlante, Jill Marks (Chris), George Daniel Niedhammer, Emily Niedhammer and Joshua Culora. Grace was also very close to her nine great-grandchildren, Jordan & Mia Richtmeyer, Ava Grace & Wyatt Scarsella, Krystal, Carter & Charlotte Nielsen and Christopher & Michael Marks. She loved her Shih tzu companion, Sushi, who was also by her side.
Grace is predeceased by her husband, George.
Grace was an active and devoted member of the Pilots Club, Daytona Beach, for 24 years, serving in numerous cabinet positions including President. Additionally, she served on the La Costa Village board of directors; a very passionate member of her local church choir; the Daytona Beach Advanced Equity for Women and Girls; Red Hats Society; Palmetto Club and Pelican Bay Women’s Club.
A Memorial Service for Grace will be held at the Colony Community Church at Colonial Colony South Clubhouse, 1275 Beville Road, Daytona Beach, FL 32119 at 11:25 AM on Sunday, January 13, 2019. In lieu of flowers she requested that donations be made to the Pilots Club International, 231 Riverside Drive, Unit 601, Daytona Beach 32117.

There was no better Mom and friend than you.
I'lll have wonderful memories to carry with me.
I'll miss you so but you will always be in my heart and soul.
