Obituary

Grant J. Kenaga celebrated his 100th birthday this year and passed away on November 21, 2017 at his residence in Cape Coral, Florida. He was born August 27, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to Lewis and Margaret (Casey) Kenaga. He enlisted in the U S Army Air Corps, 1941-1945.  On September 25, 1948 he married Helen (Erpelding) in Chicago, Illinois. Grant worked for Illinois Bell until his retirement in 1981.  He and his family moved to Cape Coral, Florida.  As a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Grant was active with the choir . He enjoyed boating, playing tennis, and square dancing. He worked hard to provide for his family, to instill in his children a good work ethic, to find time for play through storytelling, camping, sledding, ice skating and more.  He is survived by his daughter, Peg Kenaga (Keene Clay); Pam Croswhite; Mike Kenaga (Theresa); Steve Kenaga (Jocelyn Catellier); Katie Kyvik (Mark);Tim Kenaga (Astrid Hartleb); his 16 grandchildren, and his 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen;  his daughter Patty Kenaga Shapiro; and his son, Robert Kenaga. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday November 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church, Cape Coral, Florida. Burial will take place at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy E, Cape Coral, FL 33909 or other charity of your choice.  Peace and love.
