Obituary

Gregory Robert Dietz, 60 of Edgewater, died Friday, December 5, 2008 at Bert Fish Medical Center with his family by his side.  Mr. Dietz was born April 8, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN.  He moved to this area as a young child with his family.  Mr. Dietz graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School, Class of 1966 and married Rebecca Meares March 16, 1968.  Throughout his life he worked in the automotive industry helping people in the areas of parts, service and sales.  The last several years he enjoyed building boats for Boston Whaler.  Gregg was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and enjoyed cooking since his retirement.  He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rebecca; devoted son, Steven of Atlanta GA; his sister Pamela Lee; Brother’s-in-law, Gary, David and Ward Meares and many loving aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  The Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis (www.coalitionforpf.org), The Pulmonary Paper (www.pulmonarypaper.org PO Box 877 Ormond Beach, FL 32175), or the Florida Chapter of the Arthritis foundation (www.arthritis.org/chapters/florida). 11:00 AM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Service 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 on December 9, 2008 (map/driving directions) 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Service 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 on December 8, 2008 (map/driving directions) Cremation

    Becky, mother and I just wanted you and Steven to know that you're in our hearts and prayers. Gregg will surely be missed by all of us here in Georgia. I could always count on Gregg to tease me about something and make me laugh with that cute lil laugh of his. All of those old days at the fish camp are some really great memories of Gregg and Andy together that will never be forgotten. We love you and please keep in touch.

    thank you becky....a little piece of my heart is missing, so, so ,so, sorry i wasn't there, will talk to you very soon....i always thought you and greg were saints with a angle of a son.....every man needs a friend like greg in his life to know the meaning of "friend"...i love you....please never hesitate to call me if you need anything....god bless and hit'em straight greg.

    I am so sorry to hear about Greg. I know this is not any easy time to lose any loved one but celebrate the marvels and wonderfulness of Greg and know that he is with you always in spirit. I really wish i could be there with you but Claudia said she would give you a hug for me. I want to thank you for being there for me at this time last year when mom died. Even though these next few weeks will be surreal move forward one step at a time and soon you too will heal and understand the reasons why Greg need to go so as to be in a better place for himself and you. Take care Becky and know that I am thinking of you daily.
