Guy Andrew Mariande, 75 of New Smyrna Beach, passed into eternal life with Our Lord on Monday, June 6, 2016.  He was born in New Orleans the son of the late Louis and Lorraine Mariande, and predeceased by his son Darren Mariande.  Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Judy Reiker and grandson, Jordan Mariande.

Guy and Judy moved to NSB in 2001 from Atlanta, Georgia where Guy was President and owner of Cooperative Printing Solutions, a successful international software development company he started from his kitchen.  Upon moving to Florida, Guy served as Chair of the Board for the Marine Discovery Center and helped to start the first water taxi.

Guy had a great love for the water.  He earned the honorable distinction of Eagle Scout while in Sea Scouts, followed by years in the Coast Guard Reserve.  Guy was a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine Officer and master of vessels up to 100 gross tons. He was a member of the NSB Coast Guard Auxiliary.  He and Judy enjoyed many sailing adventures on their 35’ Beneteau sail boat, Island Time.  He loved to race competitively.

Guy was a good man, a loving and dedicated husband who supported his wife in all of her many endeavors. He was a gentle spirit with a generous heart.  He enriched the lives of many people.

I met Guy briefly about two years ago. I could see he was a dignified, quiet man, and loved deeply by Judy. His strength of character could not be missed, he was a Good Man. We are blessed to have had him in our lives.

    Julie Beck says:
My husband Craig left a message above which pretty much summarizes my feelings as well. I would also like to add how talented he was. One of the things we enjoyed the most is the videos he would put together after one of their trips. They were delightful with wonderful music. We could almost believe we had been with them. We will mis him tremendously but he will be in our hearts forever.

    Craig Beck says:
Guy was my oldest male friend. Always the teacher. Always the competitor, We use to autocross race Corvettes together. No matter what I did to improve, he'd beat me every time. He invited me to his graduation party in Pennsylvania. But what he really wanted was for me to see his new stunning girlfriend, Judy Reiker. He's responsible for introducing Florida to my wife and I, and ultimately our permanent relocation from Portland Oregon. One of our best adventures was the 4 of us sailing the Andaman Sea out of Thailand. My life without Guy will be different. Hopefully I can hook up with him in Heaven. He will be greatly missed.

    Susan Zimmer says:
I have only met Guy a few times and Judy even less; however, I remember all of those times with great fondness. We met mostly at family picnics and we would reconnect. His smile, his quick wit, kindness to others and infectious smile are images and thoughts that I will remember. With deep sympathy to Judy and family, Susan Zimmer.
