Gilleland, Guy Wynne passed on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Guy was born in Atlanta on May 4, 1924 to Ellen Matheson and Guy Wynne Gilleland, Sr. Guy graduated from Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1942. After attending VMI, Tufts and MIT for Naval schooling, Guy served as an officer in the Pacific. After the war, Guy earned an Aeronautical Engineering degree from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
At a Florida Yacht Club dance in 1951, Guy met the love of his life, "Betty Gay" Elmore of Jacksonville and they married on April 11, 1953. They had three children - Gay G. Erwin, Stuart Gilleland, and Lynn G. Hawkins.
Guy worked for St. Regis Paper Company in Jacksonville and New York City and Minute Maid in Winter Park, FL before retiring from Barnett Banks Trust Company as Senior Vice President.
Guy is survived by his wife and children, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
A life celebration will be held 2PM, Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Maitland Presbyterian Church, 341 North Orlando Avenue, Maitland.
