    Barbara, Kristen and Holden,
I was very sorry to read of Hal's passing in the Syracuse paper yesterday. He worked with me a NY Tel for many years. Hal was always very helpful, accommodating and a pleasure to work with. He had an uncommon amount of common sense, a wealth of OSP knowledge and was a valuable asset for NY Tel. I personally enjoyed his company and friendship while we were working together.
    With my deepest sympathy.

    Bob Bates
