Obituary
Harold James (Jim) Smith Sr., 87, of The Villages, FL passed away peacefully on September 28, 2022.
Jim was born on August 1, 1935 in Syracuse, NY. He was a son to Nina Peet, who fostered 16 children into their family. Jim worked for Amoco Oil Company as Territory Manager spanning 25 years, before moving to The Villages in December 2000 with wife Nancy, where they were members of St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church. Jim and Nancy led The Villages Diabetic Support Group for 10 years where they founded The Villages Diabetic Health Fair in 2003, to raise awareness and donations for Florida Camp for Children and Youth with Diabetes.
Jim is predeceased by his Mother, Nina Peet, his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Smith, his sister-in-law Lorraine Fernalld, his brother-in-law Edward Kibbe and his grandson Jess Smith.
Jim is survived by his sister Shirley Miller of Ilion, NY, his two sons; James and his wife Sarah from New Port Richey, FL and Bob and his wife Gail from Easton, PA, eight grandchildren; Taylor, Sara, Ryan, Melissa, Krysta, Griffin, Leann & Julianna, great-grandchild Eleanor and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Always positive and optimistic, Jim would always say “The best is yet to come”. He was truly loved by all. His kindness was noticeable to everyone he met and often referred to as a very sweet man. He adored his grandkids and wife Nancy, creating a legacy by example, a deep and genuine love for family, impacting generations. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and spending time with friends in The Villages, especially his brother-in-law Ed Kibbe and dear sister-in-law Joanne Kibbe, known as the three amigos.
Services
A mass for Jim and his wife Nancy Smith will be held at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church Monday April 24, 2023 at 10am. All are welcome.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Florida Camp for Children and Youth with Diabetes or Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, FL. .
