Obituary
Harold “Duke” Slayton, 91, of Ocala passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Hospice in Ocala, Florida.
Duke was born September 14, 1932, to Lona and Bea (Crees) Slayton in Audubon, Iowa. He was one of six children.
On May 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Janet “Jan” Zimmerline.
To this union two children were born: Scott and Todd.
Prior to retirement, Duke was the Regional Sales Manager for McKee Baking (Little Debbie).
He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Duke enjoyed attending his children’s
school events and coaching their little league teams. After retirement he moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Ocala, Florida. It was at Oak Run
that Duke found his passion for playing Golf. Duke could be found on the golf course anywhere from two to four times a week during the past
27 years. He always looked forward to the annual vacation with his family and his granddaughter. Duke also enjoyed bowling, playing poker,
going on cruises, and attending the many social events at Oak Run.Duke leaves behind his wife Jan, his children: Scott (Alice) Slayton of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Todd (Mae) Slayton of Tampa, Florida; grandchild,
Reanna Slayton and a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
