Obituary
Harriet Bush (nee Ramsten), age 86, died Aug. 30, 2018 at Calusa Harbour in Fort Myers, FL. She was born Nov. 28, 1931, in Cleveland, and lived in Chardon for 12 years before moving to North Fort Myers, FL. Harriet was the devoted and loving wife to Robert “Bob” Bush (dec) for 59 years, they married in Cleveland Heights on Nov. 23, 1951. She was a 1949 graduate of Cleveland Heights High School, she received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Cleveland State University, and a Masters in Education from Kent State University. Mrs. Bush was a passionate educator serving various roles in Mayfield City Schools for several decades. Her teaching roles consisted of elementary, special education, and hearing impaired. Her greatest achievement was her lead role in developing and coordinating the Academic Enrichment program for Mayfield Schools. She also led the Ohio Academic Decathlon for many years. Mrs. Bush retired from Mayfield City Schools in 1994 and was inducted into the Mayfield Alumni Staff Hall of Fame in 2004. Mrs. Bush was an active member of the College Club of Cleveland, Punta Gorda Women’s Club, Mayfield Retirees Association, and Grandview Women’s Golf Association. She and Bob were also members of the Mentor Lagoons Yacht Club and Elks Lodge 549. Together they enjoyed boating, golfing, fishing, tennis, traveling, theater and the arts. She is survived by her children Linda (Gary Anderson) Bush of Boone, NC, Erik (Beth) Bush of Alpharetta, Ga., and Laura Bush of Chardon; grandchildren, Karl (Kaylyn) Anderson, Jessica and Justin Bush, Ben and Brandon Rude, and Carlyn (Chris) Reeves and Lisa (Kyle) Scanlon; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bush; her son Karl Bush; parents, Fred and May (ne Palm) Ramsten; in-laws Arnold and Elizabeth (ne Buehner) Bush. Memorial services will be held 11:00am Saturday, October 6th at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., Chardon. Private family burial will be held.
