Harry Crump, 85, of Port Charlotte FL, went to his heavenly home and entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023.  He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great granddad, and brother. He loved the Lord, his family, and church; he was a tireless public servant and an avid community volunteer.

Harry Crump came from humble beginnings but persevered in life. He earned a pharmacy degree, an  engineering associate degree, a law degree, and passed the bar exam in two states. Harry served the State of Minnesota for over 30 years as an Administrative Law Judge, District Court Judge, and Public Utilities Commissioner.  He was a Labor Arbitrator, Chairman of the Board of the American Red Cross – St. Paul Chapter, a snowboard and ski Instructor, a 1000-yard long range rifle target shooting enthusiast, and a member of the Ski Patrol, for which he received an award from former President Bush for his use of cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to save a life on the ski slopes .

In his younger years, he restored race cars and flew small engine planes.  He loved golfing with his wife Faith and even won a few tournaments. One of Harry’s most notable accomplishments is when, in 2002, he was lauded for saving The Minnesota Twins baseball team from being contracted. He also received an award from Star Tribune as the 2002 “Sports Person of the Year.”

After retiring from the bench,  Harry served as a volunteer for the Ramsey County Sheriff Department in various capacities: he served as a Chaplain, Community Affairs Officer, member of the Community Emergency Response Team, Reserve Deputy Sheriff, and even volunteered for Water Patrol.

During the final years of Harry’s life, he and his wife Faith relocated to Florida. Due to his declining health, Harry became bedridden and was cared for by his devoted wife. He passed away peacefully at home and is now in the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ while we hold him dearly in our hearts.

Harry leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication; he is survived by his loving wife, Faith, and his memory will forever be cherished by his living children, Inez (Trina), Diane, Don, and Harvey. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Sean.

Harry was grandfather to Kevin and was blessed with seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Billie, and brother, Tony, as well as his extended family – his stepchildren Brad, Christal, and Tomas.

Harry’s impact was felt far and wide, with a host of friends from the legal community who will miss him dearly. His life was a testament to dedication and love for family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
