Obituary
Hattie Victoria St. Jacques, age 66, of Miami-Dade County, Florida, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 4th 2024 at Cates House, Hospice of Marion County in Ocala, Florida. Hattie Victoria Jordan was born on July 29, 1957 to her parents, Mr. Carl Vincent Jordan & Mrs. Ellen Marie Israel Jordan in Jacksonville, Florida. Soon after Hattie’s birth, her parents and her older Tyrone Israel, moved to New Jersey. In 1963 her family decided to move to Miami, Florida, where she spent the rest of her childhood. As a young girl, Hattie was gifted in many talents. She enjoyed acting, singing, dancing, and performed in school plays. She also was a great writer and visual artist. While attending Miami Edison Sr. High School, Hattie met the love of her life Cephace “Jack” St. Jacques. Soon after Hattie graduated from high school, the couple were married on July 26, 1977. Hattie and Jack had five children, three daughters and two sons. Hattie worked as a Check Processing Coordinator for Bank of America (formally Barnett Bank) during the day but was studying for her Real Estate License Exam at night. Hattie also was an entrepreneur. She started a document preparation service from her home. The business ceased when Hattie and Jack moved their family to Princeton, Florida in 1995. In January of 1996 at the age of 38 Hattie suffered a massive stroke and almost lost her life. This near death experience took away most of Hattie’s physical mobility and speech. Through the grace of God, the support of her family and months of physical therapy Hattie was able to do just about everything for herself but drive. She never returned to a career in Banking or any career outside her home. However, Hattie’s life’s work was centered around God, her family and her home. She took care of her aging parents until they passed away. She attended the birth of all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to church, reading her bible, going shopping, dining with family and taking care of family pets. In August of 2023 at the age of 66, Hattie was diagnosed with Stage Four Ovarian Cancer which eventually claimed her life. Hattie devoted her life to Christ while living each day with gratitude.
Hattie is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Jordan & Ellen Jordan, and her sons, Jason St. Jacques & Carl St. Jacques.
She is survived by her husband, Cephace St. Jacques, of 47 years; her brother,Tyrone Israel, daughters, Jacquelyn St. Jacques, Sherilyn St. Jacques, Ellen St. Jacques, daughter-in-law, Jacqueline St. Jacques, son-in-law, Mickelson Pierre and grandchildren, Deion Granger, Auilalei Granger, Umar Granger, Destiny Granger, Kamal Granger, Tye Carter, and Jeremy Carter.
