Obituary

Our beloved mother, Helen M. Wixted Berger, went to heaven on February 1, 2021, peacefully at her home in Edgewater, Florida due to natural causes. Her memorial service will be held on February 13, 2021 at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach, FL at 11am.

Helen was born on July 25, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to Dorothy and Leroy Ermisch and later relocated with the family to Danbury Connecticut. Helen spent most of her life raising her seven children, who all attended St. Peter parochial school and was a parishioner of St. Peter Church in Danbury for decades. Professionally, Helen owned and operated a gift shop with her sister Doris before moving to Florida in 1983. Mrs. Wixted Berger was also co-owner and an appraiser for Greene Appraisal Group for many years in Florida before retiring in 1995. After retirement, Helen moved to Edgewater, FL volunteering for the local library and Burt Fish Memorial Hospital, giving her time and energy helping others. We will remember her loving smile and caring heart forever.

Helen is survived by her sisters Doris and Lynn, her children, Diane, Debora, Catherine, Timothy, Beth and James, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and predeceased by son Martin.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests any donations to be given to Halifax Hospice of Volusia County.
