Obituary
Dr. Hormoz M. Minoui died peacefully at home on Sunday, February 11th, 2024.
Born in Rasht, Iran on November 6th, 1927, he completed his medical studies at the University of Tehran. He emigrated to the United States in 1956 and completed his medical residency at the Jersey City Medical Center. While in residency he assisted on the surgery of Evelyn Schmidt. After a brief recovery and subsequent courtship, they married on December 26th, 1960. They moved to Dover, N.J. in 1964, raising their 4 children in their beloved home on Walnut Street.
Dr. Minoui worked for Dover General Hospital from 1964-1993. During his tenure he served in many leadership roles including Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery all while running his own medical practice.
Dr. Minoui was a long-time member of Rotary International. He served as president of both the Dover, N.J. club as well as the Sanibel-Captiva club and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. During his time with Rotary International, he became very involved in The Gift of Life program that works to support the tools, training, and funding to provide cardiac care for children worldwide.
He retired with his love Evelyn to Sanibel Island in 1993 and enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, playing tennis and cultivating his wine collection.
He is predeceased in death by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn. He is survived by his four children, Peter Minoui(Colette), Monica Minoui, Paul Minoui, Janel Minoui-Monahan(Daniel), seven grandchildren, Danielle Voyce (Steve), Alexis Morales (Edgar), Erica Minoui (Lane), Emily Minoui, Claire Minoui (Caleb), Leila Monahan, Tobias Monahan, and seven great grandchildren, Karsen, Greyson, Freya and Conrad Voyce and Isabella, Cristian and Magdalena Morales.

He was a truly remarkable man who took pride in everything he did....
