Obituary

Huguette LaFountain, 80 years old of North Fort Myers, FL, (Formerly from Chazy, NY) passed away on July 14, 2024 in Cape Coral, FL.

Huguette was born in Chambly, Quebec, Canada to Ernest & Blanche Menard on October 17, 1943. She went to a Catholic school in Delson, QC as a child. She also went to Chazy Central Rural School & graduated from BOCES in Plattsburgh, NY for Cosmetology.

She married Andrew LaFountain on August 19, 1963 in Delson, Quebec, Canada.

She worked in the packaging department at Chazy Orchards in Chazy, NY for 8 years & also for Diamond International in Plattsburgh, NY for 9 years. Then she worked as a Group Leader in the packaging department at Wyeth Ayerst Laboratories in Rouses Point, NY for 20 years where she retired. She was involved in the Red Hat’s Organization & volunteered countless hours for Sacred Heart Church in Chazy.

Huguette was well known & loved for her energetic smile & passion to help anyone & everyone she knew & didn’t know. Besides always working a full-time factory job & working a lot of overtime, she was a seamstress & would easily be found in her sewing room hemming someone’s dress or altering a friend’s pants. She was known for making beautiful wedding cakes to eat & diaper cake towers for the occasional baby shower. She would also volunteer & cut people’s hair at the senior living homes and for many years you could find her waitressing or making 15 + homemade pies a night from scratch at her son’s Andre’s Restaurant in Chazy. Huguette was always busy doing something for someone else, but if you got in her way or got her upset, she wasn’t afraid to tell anyone “Up Your Giggy,” but most of all she was the most wonderful wife to Andy, Mother to Marc & Andre’ & great friend to so many.

Huguette was preceded in death by her parents Ernest & Blanche Menard. Her brother’s Marcel Menard & Eve Menard.

Huguette is survived by her husband Andrew LaFountain, her son’s Marc LaFountain & Andre’ LaFountain & his wife Beth LaFountain.  Her sister Normande Sabourin & her husband Ronald Sabourin. Her brother’s Gaston Menard & Florent Menard & their wives Nicole Menard & Suzanne Menard. Her grandchildren Brandon LaFountain & his fiancé Cheyenne Andrew & Cole LaFountain & his wife Megan LaFountain. Also, her grandchildren Princess LaFountain, Destinee LaFountain, Nicole LaFountain, Reuben LaFountain, Alayzia LaFountain, Siara LaFountain & Jonathan LaFountain & many nieces and nephews and one great grandchild Diego.

My dear Huguette, Heaven did gain a beautiful angel, and I am sure you are organizing them all up there, maybe you are the Angel Gabriel - lol.
We had such great times with our coffee group and getting together at Ann's house. I expect Ann was there to meet you. Rest in peace Huguette. We will all be together again one day.
