Obituary
Ian Lawrence Kent, age 79, passed away on September 12, 2023. He was born on December 18, 1943, in Rockville Centre, New York, to Lawrence and Yvola Kent.
He was the beloved husband of Mary E. Kent, his partner in marriage for 56 years. Together, they shared a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Ian was a proud father to his sons, Michael, Ian Patrick, and his daughter-in-law, Erica. Their family bond was a source of great happiness for Ian, and he took immense pride in their achievements and milestones. Sadly, Ian was preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael, who surely welcomed him with open arms.
Ian is survived by wife, Mary, his son Ian Patrick (Erica), his sister Gay VanBrunt (Walter), his brother Bruce Kent (Margie), and his brother-in-law, Earl Wise.
Always focused on goals while pursuing a happy life, he graduated from Ohio University with a Business Degree. He also served his country with honor in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam War Veteran.
For 35 years, Ian built his professional life in the world of banking, where he earned the respect and friendship of colleagues and clients alike. His strong work ethic and kind disposition left a lasting impact on those who knew and worked with him through the years.
Ian was not only a devoted husband, father, and professional; he was also an avid fisherman who found solace and joy near the water. Known as the luckiest fisherman on the boat, his passion for fishing reflected his love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life.
Above all, Ian created a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter. His welcoming nature and sense of humor were treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though he has cast his final line in this world, his spirit will forever ripple in the lives he touched.
Rest in peace, Ian. You will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
