I offer my deepest condolenses to Butch's family on his passing and I am saddened. Butch and I grew up next door to one another in Orange and he was like a big brother to me. We played sand lot football, baseball and even some hoops as kids and we both served the Orange Volunteer Fire Co. before Butch departed for N.VA and I for the U.S.A.F. in the late 60's. I only saw Butch a couple of times after that, in Orange and we always shared a laugh. Butch Carpenter was a great kid and I'm sure, a great man as well. I am most appreciative for knowing him.

To Pat and Family and Betty Jean-We are saddened to hear of the great loss of Butch --He was such a good friend throughout our high school years and know he made a difference in many people's lives. He always-in our youth-looked at the upside of life and we know he carried that philosophy in later years.Bless you all for following your dreams, moving to FL. and being an imspiration to many. Gwen and Donny

Betty Jean - Do you remember the Christmas you and Butch walked to our house and woke us up to watch us open our Christmas presents. It was about 6:00 a.m. and you had both already been up for hours. That must have been in the mid 50's.
    Love, Jo Ann
