Obituary

Ira Vance Thomas “Butch” was born November 3,1943 in Tampa, FL. He was called home December 4, 2020. His family and friends said their final good-byes, letting him know he would be missed very much, and he was free to be with our Mom (“his Peg”), whom he never stopped loving or missing. They were married for over 43 years.

At 23 years of age, he was an extremely brave young man. He married Pegge knowing he had a ready made family of FIVE children. 1 daughter and 4 sons, ranging in age from 2 years to 12 years old.

Dad made sure people knew we were his children, the word step-children was not allowed. His loving and large family accepted us from day one and we have shared many great memories with them.

Dad was a hard worker, a great provider, making sure we had the important and necessary things in life. Let me tell you just feeding us was a big challenge, all of us had good appetites! We had many surprise “weekend trips” either to go visit some family, a sightseeing adventure, a trip to the beach, or a surprise breakfast out !! We had many vacations, mini or day trips some of which included: Key West, St. Augustine, Cypress Gardens, Bok Gardens, Disney World and many other places in FL. We also traveled to many many places in the states of Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Washington D.C. and Mexico, etc.

He was predeceased by his wife Pegge L. (Kendall) Thomas; paternal and maternal grandparents; his father Clayton J Thomas, mother Evelyn O Thomas; brother Johnny Thomas, and his wife, Delores; and his sister, Sue Marsh and her husband, Frank.

His surviving children are Nanci L. Daigneault (Larry); David W. King, I l I (Carol); Howard K. King (Candy) and his adopted sons: V. Bruce Thomas(Doris); F. Colter Thomas. He had 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons.

His surviving sisters are Dottie Crutchfield (Jimmie); Jackie Carter; Pattie Jo Burdick (Kenny) and his brother Ronnie Thomas.

He is survived by 11 nieces and nephews; 27 grandnieces and grandnephews; plus 19 great grandnieces and grandnephews.

Dad you can now find peace, comfort and happiness with all of your loved ones.

Per the wishes of Dad there will not be a service.
